Why you should always check the ingredients, even when you “trust” a brand

You started your healthy journey and checking ingredients has become a routine when going shopping. You might have some favorite brands and start “trusting” them for having high quality products. However, there is a catch. It was not until recently that I found out most of these companies have similar products with very different ingredients. Some brands will sell excellent options without inflammatory oils, while other products from the same manufacturer will have similar package colors and all the bad stuff added.

This is why you want to educate yourself about what is in your food, and read the ingredients every single time you buy something, because brands can change their recipes, and also because new products from your trusted favorites can have cheaper ingredients.

While doing some research, I was shocked by how some brands post the ingredients lists on their website, but while looking at the same item on Amazon or at your grocery store app, you will see different ingredients described for the same product, information that is conflicting. At their website, the product is “clean”, but when you check actual pictures from the product, it contains one or more highly inflammatory ingredients. It might be an honest mistake, let’s say someone forgot to update the website, but it can certainly lead to misinformation and influence someone with healthy goals in mind to buy the wrong product.

My intention with this post is simply to enlighten about this tremendous difference between products, so you can make the right decisions for you and your family based on what is best for your health. I understand it can be frustrating having to add and keep another habit, and becoming vigilant about everything you buy at the store, but know this is a journey, and a journey always begins with a - not always so simple - step. You will get used to it ;)
